Self-custody basics

Your keys, your responsibility.

Self-custody means nobody can freeze or lose your funds for you. It also means nobody can recover them for you.

  • Never share your recovery phrase. Not with support, not with a moderator, not with us. Nobody legitimate will ask.
  • Write it down offline. Paper or metal, stored somewhere safe. No screenshots, no cloud notes.
  • Check every link. Use the official links on this page. Ignore wallet links sent in DMs.
  • Test with a small amount. Send a little first, confirm it arrived, then send the rest.
  • Peer to peer, carefully. Verify the address with the other person through a second channel before you send.
